Discover the art of Lost wax casting

Welcome to the creative freedom of wax carving. In this 2.5-hour workshop you’ll carve, shape, and refine jeweller’s wax to design one or two custom pieces. Carved wax models are sent to a professional casting house, where the wax is replaced with solid sterling silver, preserving every detail of your design. Finished pieces are then mailed back within three weeks, polished and ready to wear.

What is Lost Wax Casting?

Lost wax casting is a centuries-old technique used by jewellers to turn wax designs into metal. It begins with a detailed model carved in wax, which allows the artist to explore form, texture, and intricate design features that would be difficult to achieve directly in metal. The wax model is then encased in a heat-resistant mold, and when heated, the wax is melted away (“lost”), leaving a cavity in its exact shape. Molten metal is poured into this cavity, producing a faithful reproduction of the original wax design. This method is widely used by jewellers to create highly detailed, one-of-a-kind pieces.
